How Does the Block Blast Game Work?
Block Blast is a popular puzzle game played on an 8x8 square grid. Players are presented with 3 polyomino tile pieces in a rack and must place all 3 onto the board in any order. Crucially, pieces cannot be rotated.
When a full horizontal row or vertical column of 8 blocks is filled, it clears immediately. Clearing multiple rows and columns in a single move awards combo bonus multipliers. If none of the remaining pieces in your rack can fit anywhere on the board, the game ends in Game Over.
How to Get a Really High Score in Block Blast?
To score 10,000+ points consistently, master these 5 mathematical principles evaluated by our solver engine:
Protect the 3x3 Pocket
The giant 3x3 square is the most frequent run-ending piece in Block Blast. Always keep at least one 3x3 area completely clear of obstacles.
Pace Your Combo Streaks
Clearing lines on consecutive turns maintains your multiplier (x2, x3, x4...). Rather than clearing 3 lines at once, pace placements to clear lines across multiple turns.
Check All 6 Permutations
You never have to place pieces from left to right. There are 6 different orders (3!). Often, placing Piece 3 first clears a line that creates room for Piece 1!
Eliminate 1x1 Isolated Holes
Avoid leaving empty squares surrounded on all 4 sides by blocks. Only rare 1x1 dots can fill them, creating useless dead space.
