The Anatomy of a Block Blast Score

Every action in Block Blast awards points based on three distinct scoring layers:

  1. Placement Points: You receive $+1$ point for every individual block square placed on the board (e.g. a $2 \times 2$ square awards 4 points; a $3 \times 3$ square awards 9 points).
  2. Line Clear Points: When a full 8-cell row or column is filled, it flashes and clears. Clearing lines awards base explosion points ($+10$ to $+20$ points per line).
  3. The Multi-Line & Combo Streak Multiplier: This is where 90% of your total game points come from. Clearing multiple lines simultaneously and maintaining an unbroken streak can multiply a single move's value from 10 points to over 800+ points!

Simultaneous Multi-Line Clears: The Secret Formula

When a piece completes both a horizontal row AND a vertical column simultaneously (or two parallel lines at once), the game triggers a special blast event.

Lines Cleared In-Game Title Approx. Points Multiplier Effect
1 Line Single Clear 10 – 20 pts $1 \times$ (Base)
2 Lines Double Blast! 60 – 100 pts $3 \times$ multiplier
3 Lines Triple Blast!! 180 – 320 pts $8 \times$ multiplier
4+ Lines ULTRA COMBO!!! 500 – 1,000+ pts $15 \times \text{ to } 25 \times$ multiplier

The Combo Streak Counter (The Lightning Badge ⚡)

When you clear lines on consecutive turns, you will notice a glowing heart badge with a lightning streak number (e.g. Combo 2, Combo 5, Combo 10) appear above the grid.

When to Break Your Combo: The Survival Rule

The biggest trap in high-level Block Blast is combo greed. Often, a player has an active Combo 8 streak and desperately wants to reach Combo 9. To do so, they jam an awkward piece into the center of the board to force a quick 1-line clear.

The Cost: By forcing that 1-line clear, they completely blocked their board and destroyed their open $3 \times 3$ safety zone. On the very next turn, the game spawns a large square, and the game ends instantly.

⚠️ Golden Rule: Never sacrifice board survivability just to prolong a combo. A broken combo can be restarted in 2 moves; a Game Over ends your run permanently.
